The claim
How the ICBC claim works
Start with the form or a call — we will tell you what it costs before anything is booked.
Tell us what happened — where the damage is, and a photo of it if you can get one.
We submit the claim to ICBC for you. If only the glass is damaged, you do not need to call them yourself.
We handle the paperwork, so you do not have to.
We fit the glass — at your home or work, or here at our shop, whichever suits you.
What ICBC covers
If you have comprehensive coverage and only the glass on your vehicle is damaged — no other related body damage — the repair or replacement goes through your ICBC coverage. Because we are part of the ICBC Repair Network, there is no need to contact ICBC yourself: we can submit the claim on your behalf and handle the paperwork, so you do not have to. What you pay depends on the coverage you hold, so we will confirm that with you before any work starts.

Making the claim with us
We deal with ICBC directly. Give us your claim details and we handle the paperwork from there, so you are not on the phone about it.
AGS Affordable Auto Glass Services is part of the ICBC Repair Network. If only the glass is damaged and there is no other body damage, you do not need to contact ICBC yourself — we can submit the claim for you and deal with the paperwork.
We come to you — home, work or roadside — so the claim does not cost you a day off.

What to have ready
It goes faster if you have these to hand when you call or fill in the form:
Your driver's licence, the vehicle's plate number, where and when the damage happened, and a photo of the damage if you can get one. If ICBC has already given you a claim number, have that too.
Not sure whether it is a repair or a replacement? Send the photo with your quote request and we will tell you. Damage smaller than a dollar bill, out of the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge, can usually still be repaired — which is quicker, cheaper, and keeps the original factory seal. Once it spreads, it is a replacement, so it is worth calling early.

Insurance
We handle the claim with ICBC
Glass coverage sits in the comprehensive part of your policy — and we do the paperwork with ICBC.
Glass claims in British Columbia
In British Columbia a glass claim goes through ICBC rather than a private insurer. Glass sits under the comprehensive part of your coverage, so what you pay depends on the coverage you hold. Check your policy with ICBC before you commit to anything — we are not your insurer and cannot read your coverage for you.
We file the claim with ICBC and deal with them directly, so you are not on hold for an afternoon. Call us with your policy number and we will check your coverage with you before you commit to anything.
Paying cash
Not going through insurance? You get a straight price up front, before any work starts — no surprises when the job is done.

General information only, not advice about your policy — coverage depends on the policy you hold, so check with ICBC. We are an independent auto glass company that takes part in the ICBC Repair Network. That is not an endorsement of us over any other shop — your choice of repair shop is yours to make.

What customers say

“I had a rock chip on my windshield that suddenly started spreading into a crack, and I became pretty worried about it getting worse. I decided it was better to replace the windshield rather than take any chances, and I’m really glad I came here. I didn’t have an appointment and just walked in, but they were able to take care of it right away, which I really appreciated. The staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the whole process. They explained everything clearly and made the experience very easy and stress-free. The windshield replacement was done quickly, and the quality of the work was excellent. Everything looked clean and properly finished, and I was very impressed with the attention to detail. The price was also very reasonable compared to other places I looked into, so I felt like I got great value for the service. Overall, I’m very happy with my experience. Friendly service, great workmanship, a fair price, and no hassle even without an appointment. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs windshield repair or replacement. I’ll definitely come back if I ever need their services again!”
“Highly recommend! I called sometime before 8am not knowing their hours and got no answer, but then to my surprise, someone called me right back even though they didn’t open until 8:30am. They were super helpful, and I was able to book an appointment for the next day. When I arrived, the process was fast and seamless. The business is clean and presentable. Front desk was friendly and quick to finish the paperwork. They also let me know as soon as my car was ready, and picked me up from my house. The driver who picked me up was super chill and friendly - I felt safe the entire time. When I picked up my car, it was clear that they took extreme care and cleaned up after themselves. The car was almost cleaner when I picked it up than it was when I dropped it off! Amazing service here - this type of thing is rare. Super appreciate you all, and I’ll keep recommending you to anyone who asks.”
“I recently had my windshield replaced by Affordable Glass Services, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, Ron and his team went above and beyond my expectations. The windshield replacement was completed professionally, efficiently, cleaned and with great attention to detail. What truly set them apart was their exceptional customer service. Ron kindly asked one of the guys to give me a ride home after I dropped off my car and then came back to pick me up once the work was completed. That level of care and personal attention is rare these days and made the entire experience completely stress-free. Honest, reliable, professional, and genuinely customer-focused—this is a company that truly cares about its clients. I highly recommend Affordable Glass Services to anyone in need of auto glass repair or replacement. Thank you, Ron, for the outstanding service!”

Questions
Frequently asked
Can you repair my windshield, or do I need a full replacement?
It depends on the damage. We can usually perform a windshield chip repair in Port Coquitlam if the damage is smaller than 3 inches. If the crack is larger or right in your line of sight, a full replacement is safer.
Do I have to come to your shop, or can you come to me?
We make it easy. You can visit our service centre, or use our mobile service where we come to you. We offer convenient auto glass repair in Poco and surrounding areas like Coquitlam at your home or work.
Will the chip disappear completely after repair?
The repair is structural first and cosmetic second. While the scar won't vanish 100%, it will be much less visible. More importantly, our glass repair in Port Coquitlam restores the strength of your windshield so the crack doesn't spread.
What do you need from me to quote a windshield?
The year, make, model and body style of the vehicle, plus which glass is broken and how it happened. Tell us whether there is a camera or sensor behind the mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a heated windshield or a heads-up display, because those change the part we order. Your VIN helps us match the exact glass. If you are not sure what your vehicle has, we can look at it at our Port Coquitlam shop.
What happens to my old glass and the trim around it?
We take the damaged glass away with us. A windshield is laminated — two layers of glass bonded to a plastic interlayer — so it is handled separately from ordinary waste and sent for recycling or proper disposal. Mouldings, cowl covers and clips have to come off to reach the urethane bead. Some of those parts are reusable and some are one-use items that get replaced. We tell you which before we start.
Can I drive as soon as the new windshield is in?
Not always — it depends on the adhesive. The windshield is bonded to the body with urethane and is a structural part of the vehicle: it backs up the passenger airbag and helps the roof keep its shape in a rollover. The urethane has to reach a rated strength before the car is safe to drive, and temperature and humidity affect that. Your installer gives you the exact safe drive-away figure for the product used on your job.
Is rain a problem after a windshield replacement?
Rain is not a problem. Urethane makes a waterproof seal once it has bonded, and normal weather will not disturb it. Car washes are different — a pressure wand or an automatic wash with brushes can work at new mouldings and at the bond line, so leave those alone until your installer tells you the adhesive is fully set. Hand washing is gentler. Leave any retention tape where we put it, and avoid slamming doors.
Is a small chip worth fixing, or can I leave it?
It is worth dealing with while it is small. A chip is a break in the outer layer of glass, and every temperature swing, pothole and door slam works on that break until it runs out into a crack. Once it spreads past repairable limits, the whole windshield has to come out. Dirt and moisture also settle into open damage, which affects how clear a repair finishes. Bring it in and we will assess it honestly.
What makes a crack too far gone to repair?
Size, location, depth and contamination decide it. Long cracks, damage that reaches the edge of the glass, breaks sitting in the driver's line of sight, damage that has gone through to the inner layer of the laminate, and several cracks running out from one impact point are generally past repair. Older damage packed with dirt and water is also a poor candidate. We inspect the glass and give you a straight answer before any work begins.
Does it matter what kind of vehicle I have?
Yes, a great deal. Windshields vary by acoustic interlayer, tint band, heating elements, rain and light sensors, heads-up display and camera brackets, and one model can use several different parts depending on how it was optioned. Back glass usually carries a defroster grid and sometimes an antenna. Door glass may be tempered, laminated or encapsulated in its own frame. Vehicles with a forward-facing camera need ADAS calibration once the windshield is replaced. We service cars, trucks, SUVs and commercial fleets.
My back window shattered into tiny pieces — is that normal?
Yes, that is how it is designed to fail. Back and side windows are usually tempered glass, which breaks into small blunt fragments rather than long sharp shards. The trade-off is mess: pieces travel into door cavities, seat tracks, the trunk well and heater vents. We clear the glass we can reach as part of the job, but fragments can still work loose from inside a door shell afterwards, so a thorough vacuum of the interior is worthwhile.
Will filing a glass claim raise my rates?
Glass damage is handled under the comprehensive part of your policy, not collision or liability, and comprehensive claims are generally treated differently from an at-fault accident. Policies differ, though, so ICBC is the one who can confirm it for yours. Either way, nothing is filed until you tell us to.
Should I use insurance or just pay cash?
It comes down to two numbers: your comprehensive deductible and the price of the glass. If your deductible is $250 and the replacement is $550, claiming saves you $300. If your deductible is $500 and the glass is $420, paying directly is cheaper — and there is no claim on your record. We will price it both ways before you decide.
Can my windshield be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. Damage smaller than a dollar bill, outside the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge of the glass can usually be repaired rather than replaced. A repair is quicker, costs less, and keeps the original factory seal. Send a photo with your quote and we will tell you straight — including when it is the smaller job.
Does my car need a camera recalibration?
If there is a camera mounted behind your windshield — lane keeping, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise — the manufacturer generally requires recalibration after the glass is replaced, so the system aims where it is supposed to. Your VIN tells us whether yours has one, and if it does we include it in the quote up front rather than after the job.
